Join Dr. Vanessa Fountain, harp and Dr. Joshua Phillips, clarinet, for an evening of original compositions and arrangements of duets for harp and clarinet from 1889 to 2022, featuring the premiere of "Introspective Blues" by Aaron Alter. The recording is by the fantastic flute and piano duo of Iwona Glinka and Vicky Stylianou from an album entitled "Zayin" on the Phasma Music label.

On Sunday, February 4th, in New York, Aaron Alter's Vival-departures (inspired by the music of Antonio Vivaldi) for String Orchestra will have its U.S. premiere by the North/South Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Max Lifchitz. Also on the program are works by Peter Aviss, Lelio Di Tullio and Dorothee Eberhardt. Admission is FREE!

On January 27th at 7:00pm at the 2024 NWEAMO festival at San Diego State University, the amazing soprano Ljiljana Winkler, who is coming all the way from Germany, and Composers Concordance, including superstar composer and guitarist Gene Pritsker and the "Wall St. Poet" Robert C. Ford, who are coming all the way from New York, will be performing in a very exciting concert. Aaron Alter's art song "Fire and Sleet and Candlelight" is on this intriguing and stylistically-diverse program of new music. Also on the program are works by Charles Coleman, Dan Cooper, Debra Kaye, Milica Paranosic/Brian DuFord, Gene Pritsker and Joseph Martin Waters, the poetry of Roger Aplon as well as top-notch local performers Beth Holub, viola, Todd Rewoldt, alto saxophone and Lesi Mei, piano. Aaron Alter's new Art Song, entitled "Sunset on the Spire (Introspective Blues #2)" will be premiered by the soprano Ljiljana Winkler and the CompCord Ensemble in New York on November 29th at a special concert by Composers Concordance entitled "The Art of the Art Song." The text is by the poet Elinor Wylie. Also on the program are works by Dennis Bathory-Kitsz, Seth Boustead, Vicky Cheng, Dan Cooper, Melanie Mitrano, Amy X Neuburg, Gene Pritsker, Emiliano Revert, Marina Vesic and Joseph Waters.

Composers Concordance presents its 11th annual festival, entitled ‘What’s In a Name?'. Four concert programs feature new music compositions inspired by names of fictitious characters, names that are dear to individual composers, and nicknames, plus a concert of 26 composers presented alphabetically, a trio of musicians named Jay, and other imaginative ways composers choose to play upon the event titles and festival theme. The concerts will be presented at an array of NYC venues, with numerous fun premieres, virtuoso performances, and an eclectic range of styles, presented in quick tandem, encouraging our favorite composers to play on the phenomenon of names.

New Mexico Performing Arts Society and the JCC of Greater Albuquerque present Oliver Prezant, Lecturer and Educator at the Santa Fe Opera, and composer Aaron Alter (https://aaronalter.com) in an event that sheds light on his newly commissioned Earth Cantata. The world premieres of Earth Cantata will take place at the 2023 NMPAS New Mexico Bach Society concerts on Friday, March 3 at 7 pm in the Immaculate Heart Chapel, 50 Mount Carmel Road in Santa Fe and Sunday, March 5 at 5:30 pm at Las Placitas Presbyterian Church on Rte. 165 in Placitas, NM. Franz Vote leads the ensemble in both performances.

Oliver and Aaron will discuss how the music of Johann Sebastian Bach inspired Aaron’s new cantata. They will explore Aaron’s life in music, choice of cantata text, vocal writing and instrumentation. The work features SATB choir and soloists, chamber orchestra with flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, French horn, violin 1 & 2, viola, cello, string bass, piano and tambourine. Musical examples give listeners a chance to enjoy some of Aaron’s other compositions. This event concludes with a Q&A. Admission is FREE. Masks are required.
