Popcorn Blues for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet and Bassoon
I thought of the title "Popcorn Blues" from the theme, which reminded me of the sound of popcorn popping. “Popcorn Blues” is a variation of the classic 12-bar blues form. After the theme is played, each instrument in the Quartet has a solo, accompanied by the rest of the ensemble. The solos and accompaniments have different personalities and textures, adding to the variety in the work. After the flute solo, there is a short coda to bring the work to a close.
The recording of Popcorn Blues is about to be released on the Phasma Music label by the flutist Iwona Glinka and Trio Arundos. The link to the recording is below.
