Vival-departures (inspired by the music of Antonio Vivaldi) for String Orchestra

Vival-departures for string orchestra is inspired by the music of Antonio Vivaldi. Although there are no direct quotes of Vivaldi's music in Vival-departures, there is a Vivaldi-like interlude that appears in different forms and becomes a point of departure for musical development. In addition to the influences of Vivaldi's music, you'll hear influences of Blues and Rock music also. Vival-departures would add a contemporary flavor to any program that includes Vivaldi's music.

On February 4, 2024, Vival-departures had its U.S. Premiere in New York by the North/South Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Max Lifchitz. Below is the video of that performance.

Vival-departures was premiered at the Kwidzyn International Music Festival in Kwidzyn, Poland on September 16, 2022 by the incredible, courageous Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine, conducted by Maestro Volodymyr Syvokhip. The violin soloist was Alexandra Moroz. We had a full house of over 350 people in the audience in the Kwidzyn Theatre, which was impressive for a small town of about 38,000 people. Below is the YouTube video of the performance. A commercial recording of Vival-departures by the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine was released in 2023 on an album called "Lviv 1" on the Phasma Music label (distributed by Naxos), which was awarded the "Best Classical Recording" from the 2023 Clouzine International Music Awards.

Vival-departures won the Silver Medal (for Outstanding Achievement in Composition) at the 2023 Global Music Awards.
